Apple or Amazon are not examples of anything

I’m not a fan of universities nor business schools.

You probably know that.

But one thing that burns my nerves is the business case.

First focusing on the successful cases… that’s a kick in the balls… and your pocket.

When, 90% of the young companies fail, that means that you are missing 90% of the learnings.

And there is one, and one thing only that determines success…

… one thing.

Not two, or ten.

One.

Survival.

You need to be there, to make it another year, to have a chance to be successful.

If you go out of business, it’s a “hasta la vista, baby”. Nada. No bueno. You’re out.

This is why is so important to know how to be and how to keep being in business.

Survival.

How to prevent cash flow mistakes, for example.

How not to fail in the easier or “more controllable” parts of a business.

For example, I’ve seen many real estate investors making some mistakes in their first, or the third, or the forth investment and then, stopping. “This is not for me”. “To complicated”. They abandon the race. No possibility to have a successful story. Bye, bye, dreams of financial freedoms.

Or construction and service companies opening a new market… the project gone terrible… “In this country, people are crazy”… that’s the excuse, even if everyone in the country uses deodorant and go to the toilet to make some noise and feel better after a big meal.

This is why Apple or Amazon are not examples of anything… at least not many things that the common Joe can implement in their businesses or within their teams.

I’m creating something.

Just common sense.

Common sense and survival.

If you have a “project” in your hands, this interests you.

You cannot help it. You pay yourself last. You are the last monkey in the queue. Don’t believe it? Well… let’s check. You have your day planned out. You're going to be strict and responsible. You’re going to do what you're supposed to do and not get sidetracked. You’re going to wake up early. You’re going to have a proper breakfast, hit the gym, work without allowing interruptions. You’re going to leave at a certain time, and come home without looking at your phone until the next day, but......

Many of us see our parents putting on weight. When you have 20 or 30 kg of fat on your body and you don’t maintain good muscle mass, it’s difficult to climb stairs, get on the ground and stand up without help, or even walk. Can you imagine 20 kg less fat and 5 kg more muscle? Fitter parents and grandparents. Fewer medications. Fewer side effects. More trips. More vitality. It’s hard to change habits that have been ingrained for many years. But there are some highly effective levers that can...

Imagine a country like this: A total of 48 million inhabitants. 7.2 million under 16 years old. Therefore, they do not work. Among retirees, pensioners, the disabled, students, housewives, unemployed... there are 16.7 million who also do not work. That leaves us with 24 million people available to work (half of the country). Of those 24 million, 3.6 million are employed by the state, regions, municipalities, whatever. The rest are self-employed and salaried workers. Specifically: • 3.2...
