Your brain is deceiving you. Here is how.

Jack Trout, advertiser, author. A machine you should look for in God Google.

This guy said that “We live in the first over-communicated society in history”.

I repeat.
"Over-communicated,"

Oh, what a term, what insight, what interesting idea… you may be thinking.

Yeah, but wait.
Let me tell you two more things.

First, he said this in the 70s.

Yes.
Over-communication, in the 70s. Do the math.

Second, this means success is no longer about having information.

Not anymore.

For 200,000 or maybe 400.000 years, success was about possessing information: how to make fire, how to harvest, how to write, what fruits you can eat without dying, etc… but all the sudden, it's not anymore.

Suddenly, everyone has the information.
Suddenly, success lies in selection and action.

I repeat.

Selection and Action.

And this is normal.

This is why people watch Netflix, put the TV, read the newspaper providing the same information than the TV, play Nintendo, etc.

Now that they have the information, their outdated brain, shaped by 200,000 or 400.000 years of evolution, tells them they can relax.
They get distracted by the shiny rectangle.
By pictures and videos of abs, tits and glutes. And desserts, and yummy food. Luxury cars, pregnant women, lovely babies, and kittens. Honeymoons in the Riviera Maya, feminism, and superhero movies in tights. Images of war like playing games…

It’s addictive, I admit. That sense of accomplishment that comes from movement. Like, opening, looking, checking, and marking as read any emails in your inbox.
Satisfaction on the surface, emptiness inside…

Beating everyone is easy. Just do what everyone else is not doing.

I have a deal for you. One lesson a week.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Because focus is power. Prioritizing is success. Discarding is progress.

I consume everything, I read everything, I try everything. I select the best. And I give it to you.

Theory, Experience, Examples, and Exercises.

You're the only animal species that suffers from information overload.

But also the only one that can choose who to hang out with.

Humans have a terrible egocentric problem. Since we walk in and out of the caverns, we thought that we were the center of the universe. Just considering the sun being the center, and not us, humans, cost some people lots of trouble or even their lives. This is why you feel essential in your company or your business. You’re wired to feel like that. There are even people out there that don’t leave their jobs for “not letting the mates down, without me” or for “continuing my legacy”, or any...

First… Why should you care? Over and over, we have heard from our parents or at school the same story. Study hard. Get a good degree. With the good degree, a good job. Then, work hard. That’s the perfect receipt to be permanently frustrated about how little money you make, and how much money others make. No matter if you are an operator or a CEO. The money that you make out of selling your time never tastes fulfilling. If you care about that, you should continue your education until you die....

Yesterday I saw that Trump is taking the lead in the pools. That’s terrible. It’s so bad, so bad for you, for the economy and the democracy, that… It’s at least as bad as… if the other lady wins the election. Or as good as… Or as irrelevant as… If you look at any elections or any government with the hope of them changing your life, forget it… unless, of course, you want to be a slave of the system. The maximum thing that Trump winning or the other lady winning will do is changing your mood…...
